Finding the true me
2 min readI´ve tried a lot of techniques in trading, all of them more or less added to my confidence as a trader. In some strange way, I´ve managed to keep my head above the water for quite a long time, much thanks to what I´ve learned from Mark Holstead: Money management and risk control.
Until now, I haven´t made that much money, but I haven´t lost any either. You could say, it has been a learning year for me, constantly searching for the style that feels natural and perhaps most of all, searching for the true me.
Recently, I read High Performance Trading by Steve Ward, a very good book on trading psychology, my highest recommendation.
Steve talks about writing an affirmation. I´ve done that, but somehow the text always feels unnatural to me, so I´ve changed it and trimmed it, but it just haven´t been right.
Now, at last, I have found myself and the true me, both in trading and life in general, so I´d like to share my affirmation (It´s not fancy, it´s just me):
“I scalp for ticks, I am a scalper!
That´s what I do, that´s who I am, it´s in my nature.
With my emotional control, I am conquering this lovely game called trading, tick by tick.
More fine grained are the mistakes I do. I embrace and I learn from every single one of them. That´s how I see my development and how the Master level comes closer for each session.
I scalp for ticks, I am a scalper!
That´s what I do, that´s who I am, it´s in my nature.”
I read it before each session and I read it before I go to sleep.
